The letters French tax offices actually send

Most mail to a foreign company comes from the business tax service (service des impôts des entreprises, SIE), or from the foreign-business office (SIEE) at the DINR. These are the common shapes, in plain English:

Payment reminder (lettre de relance)

The tax office records an unpaid amount and asks for payment. Usually the first step, before formal enforcement.

Formal demand (mise en demeure)

The formal demand to pay or to file, with a stated window (often 30 days). Ignoring it is what triggers surcharges and enforcement, up to a third-party seizure notice (avis à tiers détenteur).

Estimated assessment (taxation d'office)

Returns are missing, so the tax office assesses the VAT itself, usually higher than reality. Filing the real returns within the stated window is normally what replaces the estimate.

Information request (demande de renseignements)

A request for information or documents with a response deadline. Unanswered requests typically escalate.

Audit notice (avis de vérification)

Announces a tax audit for the periods it names. A letter where professional handling matters most.

Your VAT number (mémento TVA)

The good-news letter: your French VAT number has been issued. From here the tax office expects a return for every period.

How the free read works

1

Upload the letter

PDF or phone photos, one letter per upload, every page. No account, no email required for the read itself.

2

Read it in about 20 seconds

Letter type, a full English translation, and every deadline and euro amount the letter names, each checked against the printed text. A line we cannot read reliably is left out and we say so, never shown wrong.

3

Decide with a fixed price

If you want the letter handled, ask for a quote: a fixed price for the full response, within 24 hours on weekdays, free to receive and free to turn down.

If the letter is about missing French VAT returns

A relance or mise en demeure about undelivered VAT returns (déclarations CA3) stops when the returns are filed. We can file the missing periods, quoted per case, and take over the ongoing ones so the letters stop for good.

€130/month

French VAT takeover for companies that already hold a French VAT number. Every monthly CA3 return prepared and filed. €1,450/year if billed yearly.

€1,899/year

All-in plan: French VAT registration for a foreign business plus every monthly return, run through the same English dashboard as our German service.

One honest limit: we act for companies established in the EU or in countries France exempts from fiscal representation (the UK qualifies). We never act as a fiscal representative, so we cannot take on French VAT for a company established in, for example, the US or China. The free letter read has no such limit.

Questions

Is the letter read really free?

Yes. Upload the letter and the read is free, with no signup: the letter type, an English translation, and every deadline and euro amount it names. If you want the letter handled, you can ask for a fixed-price quote, free to receive and free to turn down.

Can you respond to the French tax office for me?

Yes. Response work is quoted per case: you see a fixed price before anything is engaged, within 24 hours on weekdays. If the letter is about missing VAT returns, we can also take over the monthly French VAT return (CA3) as an ongoing service.

Do you handle French VAT registration too?

Yes, the €1,899/year all-in plan covers French VAT registration with the foreign-business tax office (SIEE) plus every monthly return. The establishment limit above applies.

My letter is about CFE, corporate tax or another French tax. Can you help?

The free read still tells you what the letter says and what deadline it carries. But Vaytax handles company VAT (TVA); other French taxes such as CFE, CVAE or corporate income tax are outside our scope, and a French tax advisor for that field is the right counterpart.

Is my letter safe to upload?

Files are stored in the EU (Frankfurt region) and used only to produce your read and, if you ask for one, your quote. The privacy policy describes how the automated analysis works.
