The Short Version

Taxdoo discontinued VAT compliance on 30 April 2026. From May 2026 onwards, Taxdoo will not file your UStVA, will not maintain DATEV exports, and will not handle Finanzamt correspondence.

Your Steuernummer is safe. It belongs to your company, not to Taxdoo. Migration is a power-of-attorney handover (Vollmachtswechsel), not a re-registration. There is no gap in your tax registration if the handover is timely.

Vaytax takes over for €79/month. Licensed German Steuerberater, every filing reviewed and signed by our Steuerberater team, submitted via DATEV + ELSTER — the same infrastructure your Taxdoo exports were built for. Engagement letter and Vollmacht in your inbox within 24 hours of joining the waitlist.

Migration in 6 steps

A clean handover from Taxdoo to Vaytax takes 1–2 weeks. Here's the path.

1
Day 1

Sign the Mandatsvereinbarung

You join the Vaytax waitlist. We send the engagement letter and Vollmacht (power of attorney) within 24 hours. You sign electronically — no printer, no scan.

2
Days 1–3

Request your Taxdoo handover pack

From Taxdoo, request the last 12 months of UStVA + ZM filings (PDFs), the latest Jahreserklärung if filed, a DATEV export covering 1 January 2026 to handover, any open Finanzamt correspondence, and confirmation that they've terminated their Vollmacht. Start this on day 1 — response times slip during a wind-down.

3
Days 5–10

Vollmacht filed with the Finanzamt

We file the new Vollmacht. Your assigned Finanzamt processes the Vollmachtswechsel and routes future correspondence and ELSTER access to us. The Steuernummer is unchanged.

4
Early June

Upload May turnover

You enter the May 2026 sales totals into the Vaytax dashboard (typically ~5 minutes — totals per VAT rate, EU acquisitions, reverse-charge supplies). You can also paste in your Amazon/Shopify monthly export directly.

5
By 10 June

May UStVA filed via DATEV + ELSTER

Our Steuerberater reviews and signs the return. We file via DATEV + ELSTER and send you the ELSTER Übermittlungsprotokoll plus the DATEV export. Your migration is verified clean.

Why Vaytax for Taxdoo migrators

The closest functional replacement.

You picked Taxdoo because of DATEV-native filing, fixed pricing, and English self-service. Vaytax delivers all three — and adds a named Steuerberater on every return.

DATEV + ELSTER native

The same professional infrastructure Taxdoo's exports were built for. Every UStVA prepared in DATEV, submitted via ELSTER. Zero re-architecture — your transition is invisible to the Finanzamt.

A real Steuerberater on every filing

Reviewed and signed by our licensed German Steuerberater team (Steuerberaterkammer Köln), not a "partner network" handoff. A real human you can email and reach.

Fixed €79/month, no per-transaction fees

Annual VAT declaration, EU ZM, all routine Finanzamt correspondence — included. No surcharges by transaction count, no separate audit-defense rate. Cancel anytime; notice runs to end of next month.

English dashboard, EN/DE/FR support

The same self-service experience you had with Taxdoo, in English. Email [email protected] in English, German, or French — replies come from the same team handling your file.

Audit-trail versioning

Every UStVA versioned per period — built for §153 AO Berichtigungen (corrections). When you re-file, the prior version is preserved with a clean supersedes link. No silent overwrites.

Cohort capacity

Our Steuerberater team reviews each registration personally — we cap intake per cohort. Joining the waitlist now reserves your slot in the migration cohort and triggers the engagement letter within 24 hours.

Vaytax vs the alternatives Taxdoo migrators are evaluating

Where each replacement provider sits on price, model, and Germany specialisation.

Pan-EU sellers in 3+ countries should consider hellotax or countX for the multi-country bundle. Germany-focused sellers — including Pan-EU FBA sellers whose primary risk is the German registration — are typically better served by a Germany specialist.

5 questions to ask any replacement provider

The Taxdoo migration is when competitors will quote attractively then surface fees later. Get these answers in writing.

"Is a licensed German Steuerberater named on my filings, and are they a member of a Steuerberaterkammer?"

The answer should be a name and a Kammer. "Our partner network" is a yellow flag — you want to know exactly who signs your return.

"What is the all-in monthly cost for Germany, in writing, with no per-transaction surcharges?"

Get it in the engagement letter. Quote-based pricing during migration season often surfaces tier upgrades after onboarding.

"Is Finanzamt correspondence included? How are audits or queries billed?"

This is where multi-country platforms tend to bill separately at €150–200/hour. Get the boundary in writing.

"What is the cancellation notice period? Any auto-renewal?"

Watch for 12-month auto-renewal clauses. Vaytax cancels at the end of the following month with no auto-renewal.

"Can you commit to filing my May 2026 UStVA by 10 June, in writing?"

If they can't commit to a date in writing, they don't have capacity. Move on.

Common Taxdoo migration questions

Will my German Steuernummer change?

No. The Steuernummer and USt-IdNr. are tied to your company entity, not to Taxdoo. Switching is a power-of-attorney handover — Vollmachtswechsel — not a re-registration. There is no gap in your tax registration.

What if Taxdoo is slow to release my data?

It happens. Start the request on day 1 of your migration. We can begin onboarding (Mandatsvereinbarung, Vollmacht) without your full Taxdoo handover pack — your historical filings are useful for context, but not strictly required to file the May UStVA itself, which we prepare from your direct turnover data.

Can I migrate mid-quarter or mid-year?

Yes. The standard cut-over: Taxdoo files your last reporting period (April 2026), Vaytax files from May 2026 onward. As long as the Vollmachtswechsel is processed before your next deadline, no period is uncovered.

I have Dauerfristverlängerung. Does that transfer?

Yes. Dauerfristverlängerung sits with your company at the Finanzamt — it's not tied to Taxdoo. The 1/11 deposit you've paid is on file with the Finanzamt; the new Steuerberater files under the same extension. No re-application.

What if I also use Taxdoo for ZM (EU recapitulative statements)?

ZM is included in Vaytax's €79/month. If you have intra-EU B2B supplies (Pan-EU FBA cross-border movements, B2B sales to other EU countries), we file the monthly ZM alongside the UStVA. No separate charge.

What about the Jahreserklärung (annual return)?

Included. The 2025 Jahreserklärung that Taxdoo would have filed for you is now your responsibility — Vaytax can take that on as part of the migration. Standard German annual VAT return deadline is 31 July of the following year (or 28/29 February of the year after, with Steuerberater-extension).

Do I have to pay for both Taxdoo and Vaytax during the cut-over?

For the calendar month of the cut-over, you may. Taxdoo's last billable month is typically April (the period they file before exiting). Vaytax billing starts the month we file your first return. Total double-billed period: typically zero, occasionally one month.
